NWA 8395 originates from the asteroid Vesta — the only asteroid visible to the naked eye — and was found in Western Sahara. It is an equilibrated basaltic eucrite comprised of ~60% pyroxene and ~40% plagioclase. Approximately half of this handsome specimen’s surface is covered in a chocolate-hued fusion crust which contrasts nicely with its gray matrix.
