7. STEINBACH — SMALL PARTIAL SLICE OF METEORITE EXOTICA
Anamolous iron – IVA-anom
Karl-Marx-Stadt, Germany
Found 1724 / TKW: 98 kg
(Similar to lot 11) Steinbach was first found in 1724 before meteorites were believed to exist. It is also one of the very few IVA anomalous irons as IVA irons are almost always purely metallic while Steinbach is filled with silicate inclusions. Difficult to obtain, Steinbach is a cornerstone of all major European collections — and not just. This partial slice has one cut edge. Featuring a Natural History Museum (London) provenance, Steinbach is a much sought-after addition to any collection.
