Boutel Fil is one of three confirmed falls to have occurred in the African nation of Chad. Accompanied by three sonic booms, small settlements and farmland north of the town of Boutel Fil were pelted with meteorites the night of July 8, 2023. Villagers collected the meteorites the next day. The light grey recrystallized matrix exhibits a very light sprinkling of iron-nickel. Two long edges of the meteorite’s exterior contain patches of fusion crust.
