13. NWA 12692 — THE RAW INGREDIENTS OF THE PLANETS – SUBTYPE 3.00
Chondrite – LL 3.00
Sahara Desert, Mali
Found 2012 / TKW: 373 grams
The constituents of NWA 12692 are nearly unchanged since having formed within the gaseous solar nebula from which our solar system was born. Unlike the case with 99.9% of all meteorites, the 3.00 designation indicates there is almost no metamorphism whatsoever…no alteration from heat or pressure. This is a complete slice of yet another Holy Grail in this offering: an extremely rare sample of the raw ingredients of the solid planets; the most primitive planetary material known.
41 x 33 x 1mm (1.66 x 1.33 x 0.1 in.) and 4.36 grams (21 carats)
