1. GUJBA — PARTIAL SLICE OF A SINGULAR METEORITE
Bencubbenite – CBa
Yobe, Nigeria
Fell April 3, 1984 / TKW 100 kg
Bencubbinites are far more rare than samples of the Moon and Mars; they represent just 0.03% of all meteorites and of the 27 documented examples, 17 have a total weight of only a bit more than three kilograms. Not only is Gujba the only witnessed fall of a bencubbenite, it also experienced the least amount of impact-induced crushing and brecciation in interplanetary space of any bencubbenite thus its unique orbicular presentation. Now offered is an exceedingly thin, slightly tapered partial slice. Gujba is a singular meteorite and among the most entrancing bits of extraterrestrial material known.
